All have their respective strengths and weaknesses, and some are better at particular tasks than others. Cyberlink PhotoDirector 8 Ultra is no exception, and where it excels is in making the most common adjustments to photos any casual user would want to make very quick and easy to do. For example, the typical family gets back from Disney and you want to share the photos you took with friends and family, but don't want the fight you know will happen when one family member realizes you shared photos when they had that 'huge' blemish on their face. Just about any photo editing software can let you make the necessary changes to the photo, but none are as easy as PhotoDirector. The intuitive interface will guide you through three easy clicks and you're done, moving on to the next photo. Very fast and easy to make that change, or any other common changes you might want to make. It seems optimized for just this sort of thing, and the end result is very good for sharing via email, Facebook, or printing a photo for the family album.That being said, you can make the argument that other software platforms are better. And in some aspects they are better. I can do the same thing in Photoshop, and have a result that is much better if I'm blowing the photo up to billboard proportions or need precision in some other way for a professional purpose. But it will take more time for each photo, and that doesn’t count the time to figure out how to do it to begin with. I love Photoshop, but there's no way I would give it to my mom so she could figure out how to make the photos she takes of her grandchildren better..just isn't going to happen, she'll be hopelessly lost trying to figure out what to do. She can figure out PhotoDirector, and whiz through..I don't even know how many photos, getting the results she'll be perfectly happy with. It simply is a matter for picking the best tool for the job.
